Mira is going to have a cooking party for her 7th birthday. We decided to make each girl a potholder. I used this opportunity to try out a few new quilt block styles.
And Mira made her first improvised log cabin block for her potholder.
The machine pieced hexagon block was only accomplished by following the lovely Lady Harvatine tutorial, and I still need some practice on that one!
For
the dresden plate block I used a tutorial from Amy
at Badskirt .
I think you need to change your blog name to Cool Mama. :o) I love the idea of a cooking party for a birthday -- and to make the girls potholders, too! You're the best!

What lucky little girls! My oldest is turning 6 is three months (as she just updated me). Last year was an artsy party. Cooking would be fun!

Melissa, it's so funny that making potholders makes me a cool mom! You crack me up!
Rachel, it was between and art party and a cooking party...next year I guess we'll do art!
